Wedding Celebrant Ceremonies in Kent

Ceremonies by a wedding celebrant are becoming more and more popular, heres why you should consider one.

It is unusual for both my commercial work and my wedding photography to overlap but I was pleased to say I found myself at a shoot last week in which it did..

Simply Ceremonies Uk asked me for a set of promotional photographs to promote their business after setting up in June this year.
Karina is an Independent celebrant, who can write and perform Wedding, Vow renewal, Hand fasting and Baby naming ceremonies, each ceremony is written for the couple and is personalised to their beliefs and personalities.
The Wedding ceremony can be held anywhere including inside beautiful castles, houses or theatres or outside at the beach, in a beautiful garden or woodland. The only limit is your imagination.
Couples register the legal marriage prior to the wedding ceremony as currently Independent celebrants are not authorised under the Law of England and Wales to perform the legal aspect. However, this allows Karina to create a ceremony with no rules or boundaries and can include any readings, music or words (within reason) that the couple want.
Karina approached me as she is in the process of having a website created  www.celebrant-uk.co.uk and she was in desperate need of some photographs which would allow potential clients the opportunity to see what I look like whilst performing a ceremony.
I asked Karina for a few words to describe why she came to me…
“It’s very easy to email sample wordings and ceremonies across the internet and obviously I encourage meeting the client at the start as they need to be confident that they like me and will feel totally confident with my personality, style and ability. However, the internet is often the first time a couple will see what I do. Therefore professional photos are essential.”
“I had made the mistake of using photographs my lovely husband had taken of me performing my first wedding of a couple in Mayfair, London but the quality and composition just wasn’t good enough for my website. The light was wrong, he was not standing in the right place and although the photos are ok, they aren’t as good as I need them to be. I needed a professional photographer with a fine eye for detail. “
We organised some mock weddings in different settings.
One of the venues chosen was The Pines Calyx  in St Margarets Bay in Kent. A multi award winning and unique venue with views across the Channel to France. The building has been constructed using natural, renewable materials and is situated in 6 acres of stunning parkland. The Pines Calyx are promoting beautiful outdoors ceremonies and it was a perfect venue for Karina to showcase this style of ceremony.  The other was Upnor castle in Medway offering a unique setting on the water.
Claire Bate of Little Florrie was asked to create a bouquet and headdress for the bride’s at the Pines shoot. Claire used seasonal flowers and foliage which are grown in her gardens in Ashford, Kent along with a few additional flowers on this occasion because of the time of year the photoshoot was held.  The flowers at Upnor Castle were supplied by Jo at Moody Blooms.
