PRE-WEDDING SHOOT – MAIDSTONE ZOO

For Nicola and Dan’s pre-wedding shoot we decided to meet at the old Maidstone Zoo on the edge of Maidstone… In its day, the zoo was one of the┬ásouth east’s greatest tourist attractions, opening it’s doors in 1934 however it only lasted until 1959 when it closed its doors. However today you can visit the park and still see where the animals were kept.

AUTUMN PRE WEDDING SHOOT

As Nicola and Dan’s wedding is a summer wedding I suggested that they take advantage of the Autumn leaves and the changing colours of fall, the season is one of my favourites when it comes to outdoor shoots as you have so many stunning colours that make for the perfect backdrop. Both Nicola and Dan wore similar┬ácolours which is something that I always recommend when it comes to lifestyle photography.

WHY HAVE A PRE-WEDDING SHOOT

I often get asked ‘why do we need to have a pre-wedding shoot’? The reason is quite simple it is the perfect opportunity for you as a couple to have some imagery taken ahead of the big day and feel comfortable in front of the camera. For many couples, they will never have had an official photoshoot and this really helps you understand what is involved when it comes to their wedding day.

WHAT HAPPENS TO THE IMAGES

Whilst I never do a pre-wedding shoot with the intention of selling any imagery, often couples love the images so much that they decide that they want to purchase some of the photos, the most popular things that couples buy is a ‘Signature Mount’ that their guests can sign on the wedding day or a guestbook. Other options are framed imagery as gifts for the parents.

THE BIG DAY

Nicola and Dan’s big day is at Eastwell Manor in the Summer of 2016.
